We've been doing a lot of labels for the stall-holders at the Glen Austin Farmers market on Saturday mornings. The cute labels on the left were for The Jolly Green Man who always brings loads of lovely fresh produce and fresh farm eggs to the market.
Iron Thistle is always at the market with scrummy baked goods including Scottish Short Bread (my weakness), milk tart, potato scones and other delectable goodies. They wanted their labels to reflect their Scottish heritage and incorporate the family tartan and the Scottish Thistle. Throw in a little of the owner's fun but no-nonsense personality and as you can see the final label design came out stunning and gives them a great platform to build their brand on.
These labels for a home made Horseradish Spread were just meant to be a whole lot of fun. This stall also stocks fabulous fresh meat products and lemons when they're in season.
Not only is it a joy to make labels for some of the stall holders but visiting the glen Austin Farmer's market is always the highlight of my Saturday morning. There's tons of stuff to discover like home made preserves, worm compost, freshly baked bread, plants, books, salami and bacon and just lots and lots of super cool stuff. Plus you can chill out at the food court for some coffee and a lekker breakfast (totally recommend the fresh pancakes). It's fantastic and I feel blessed to be able to enjoy a farm style market in the city like this.
Digital labels work really well in this setting because these people aren't large scale producers of goods, they only need small quantities at a time and short run digital labelling makes it cost effective for them to order only as many as they need at a time.
If you want to share the experience of a small, friendly community market on a Saturday morning and get tons of yummy goodies to enjoy over the weekend, please stop by. It runs from 7am to 11am on Saturday mornings at the Manderston Canine Academy, 49 Olifantsfontein Rd, Glen Austin, Midrand - Use the map below, we'll see you on Saturday!
